Instead of incurring the mess and expense of replacing their entire window unit, many Canadians are choosing to install Wintite Magnetic Window Systems. Wintite is up to 66% less expensive than new windows, offers UV protection, reduces the amount of heat that escapes through windows, as well as the radically impacting the amount of noise that enters your home.
The Wintite frame is attached to the interior of the existing windows in your home. The acrylic panel, which looks like glass, but is 19 times stronger, ½ the weight and guaranteed not to yellow, is magnetized and fastens to the window frame. To open the window, simply remove the panel and attach it to the fixed portion of your window for neat storage.
Benefits of Wintite

Nov 27th, 2008 - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (Click to Open / Close)

There are many ways to conserve money and the environment at the same time. Below are a few examples of things you can do to reduce, reuse and recycle in order to save money and positively impact the earth.
|
| |
Reduce:
-
Recycling can be a band-aid for a larger issue. To truly impact landfills, try reducing the number of water bottles that you use. Instead of buying a case of smaller water bottles, try investing in a water filter system and travel mug. You can purchase a fridge-size, water pitcher and a watertight travel mug for approximately the same cost as 10 cases of water, which will save you money very quickly.
-
Switching off lights and electronic appliances when not in use can significantly reduce your electricity bill, as well as your consumption level!
-
Impulse shopping at the grocery store can be costly. Make sure that you eat before going to the store and take a list to avoid unnecessary expenditures.
Reuse:
-
For the same cost as a box of 50 sandwich bags, you can invest in reusable plastic containers. These help the environment, are less likely to rip than plastic bags and will last much longer than a box of disposable bags.
-
Old mouse pads can be used as coasters or trivets for hot beverages and cookware. Of course, plastic coated mouse pads are not effective for any hot containers from the stove or oven!
-
Consider sharing or borrowing items that you will only need occasionally. Perhaps you and a neighbour could split the cost of a snow blower, lawn mower or power equipment.
Recycle:
-
As children and grandchildren grow up, you may find yourself with toys and books that are no longer of use to you. Instead of throwing these things out, you could hold a garage sale. Ask your family to come by and choose what mementos they would like to keep from your garage, basement or attic. This will not only reduce the amount of clutter you have to deal with, but will also ensure a few extra hands during the cleaning process!
-
Many schools and churches will gratefully accept donations of old storybooks or toys for their libraries and daycare programs. Remember to ask if they offer a tax receipt for donations made!
